Tidewell Hospice Plans For New Hospice House In Lakewood Ranch

Tidewell Hospice plans for new hospice house in Lakewood Ranch

Capital campaign underway to raise funds for eighth hospice house.

In the summer of 2015, Tidewell Hospice purchased 2.45 acres in the heart of Lakewood Ranch with plans to build a hospice house to better serve residents in the growing area of East Manatee County.

A $7 million capital campaign to raise funds for the new hospice house has begun. Ground will be broken in 2017 on the 12-bed, 14,810-square-foot facility at the corner of Lakewood Ranch boulevard and Rangeland Parkway.

A hospice house is an inpatient facility that provides the setting for nursing staff to maintain control of patients’ symptoms and manage pain, or it can be a place where patients come while caregivers get a much-needed period of rest. The tranquil setting and a staff expert in palliative care ease the fear and anxiety of dying patients and those who love them.

The Lakewood Ranch Hospice House will be convenient for area patients, who previously had to transfer to the nearest hospice house with an available bed.

The design of the Lakewood Ranch Hospice House provides for future expansion to 24 beds.
